“Facing the Enemy”

Text: Psalm 25:15 My eyes are continually toward the LORD, For He will rescue my feet from the net (trap).

I am hearing the Lord say…

I. Know me as the God that wants to Help”

This whole message is built on what God has just taught me from the following Scripture.

Psa 25:2 

My God, in You I trust, Do not let me be disgraced; Do not let my enemies rejoice over me.

II. God is emphasizing to me that we have an enemy; we’re going to need help.

• Who are “My enemies?”
• Do you know who your enemies are?”

• Your enemies are spiritual. In the OT, they were physical. But In the NT they are spiritual. 

• Your physical enemies are:

1. opportunities to NOT fight.

2. People you are to forgive.

3. People for you to approach with meekness

4. Opportunities to turn the other cheek

5. Persons to bless and pray for

6. Jesus taught non-violence ( ^{Matthew 5:38} “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ ³⁹ But I tell you not to resist an evil person.

—Meanwhile,

Luke 22:36 says buy a sword. This is for symbolism of the real spiritual battle, as we also learn from Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12. Both verses speak of a sword but reveal the sword is spiritual.

• Your Spiritual Enemies Are:

In Eph 6:12  we see five spiritual levels of spiritual enemies. 

A couple important things to consider:

• You have 2 death due dates. #1 is to die in God’s time. #2 is the devil’s trap to take you out and thus, die before your time (God’s time).

• Likewise, many folks will have two spiritual forces assigned to them. 1 is our guardian angel. The other is the opposite of our guardian—it’s our spiritual assassin.

Don’t take it lightly that Jesus called the devil a thief who comes to steal, kill, destroy. Reject teaching that states the devil can’t steal from you, can’t kill you, can’t affect you. Folks, if you’re living in sin, you’re not wearing the armor, you’re operating recklessly concerning spiritual authority, you’re exposed and the enemy can hit and hurt you.

I’m telling you right now, you better learn to pray the raw revelation found in Psalm 25:2. 

Lord, help me. Deliver me from my enemies.

Psalm 18:48

“He rescues me from my enemies; You indeed lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from a violent man.”

👆🏼That gives us three opponents 

1. Enemies: such as Bears. Lions. Jealous Brothers.
2. Enemies (like Goliath) that rise up along our journey.
3. Violent Man (such as Saul)

—Consider the serious revelation Jesus gave to Peter  in Luke 22:31 Satan is wanting to get at you; he wants to sift you.

—Consider Daniel’s encounter in Daniel 10 when he was given revelation of spiritual warfare that he was involved in without previously being aware.

1. Daniel had warfare. But Daniel had purpose.

2.David had warfare, but David had destiny.

3. Peter had warfare. But Peter had a promise.

4. Paul had warfare. But Paul had a future.

III. Get Beyond the warfare, the enemies’ resistance, and get to your future, your promise, your destiny.

God wants you (us) to get beyond the traps and attacks of the enemy so we can experience the 

• destiny, 
• prophecy, 
• will, 
• plans, 
• dreams that he has for…

• us 
• our ministry, 
• our church,
• our city.
