  • Enemy Storms

    I heard the Lord saying

    “be sober.”

God wants us to have a clear, disciplined, focused mind. Secondly, I heard the Lord saying

    “be vigilant.”

The definition of vigilant is…keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties.

2 Timothy 4:5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Then, my Spirit man heard the Lord speaking the following word to me this morning, and I knew it was for others—many others—and not just for myself:

He is like a lion. He is roaring, he is hunting. He wants to ravage, and hurt. He wants and expects a quick fight, so you must endure and outlast Him. This enemy wants you to respond outside of the fruits of the Spirit. He wants you to pout. He wants you to question God and put Him on trial. He wants you sour. He wants you to quit, to give up. He, at the least, wants you weakened and less effective.

Psalm 27:14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”

So stir yourself (You should know how to do that by now). Take on the strength of the Lord. This ravenous, predator enemy wants to destroy what you carry. It’s more about your assignment, your ministry, your gift than it is about you as a person.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

So guard what you have already said yes to. Guard what is inside of you. Fight for that thing that has been entrusted to you. Endure for the sake of that beautiful thing that you’re cultivating.

1 Timothy 4:14a Do not be negligent of the gift in you.

Some of you are affecting territorial spirits, especially those of you that are being used by God to lift the offerings of worship and/or prayer. I hear the Lord saying to pay attention to the natural weather. This spirit is sometimes wrapping itself in the climate or the culture of your immediate region. It will, at times, possess (inhabit, embody) the weather. And it may, at times, spur ungodly emotions that will catapult a person or persons to act out and possibly commit unhealthy, unwise, or illegal activities such as arson, criminal mischief, riots, aggressive boycotts, or gunfire.

A storm—demonized weather—arose to resist Jesus and His disciples when Jesus was crossing over to the other side. And riots broke out in the book of Acts as the new Spirit-filled Church was expanding. Hence, what I’m hearing and writing about is nothing new, nor is it extra-biblical.

Lastly, I hear God saying that

    breakthrough is coming—soon.

God is about to use you as a breaker. The river and the wind are going to flow out of you with spiritual fury.

Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

So be encouraged my dear brothers and sisters.

1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

The breakthrough will be a birthing, a coming forth, of what you’ve been contending for. The enemy has been fighting you and your region for a reason. But if you will keep standing, God is going to turn the tide and victorious reward will bursts forth.

  • Unholy War

There is a roar that has been happening that is unsanctioned by Heaven. There has been a battle transpiring that is not led by the heart of God. There have been prayers and fastings taking place that are not righteous at their roots. We must remember that obediece is better than sacrifice.

Grace is God doing what we cannot, nevertheless so many are striving for a dominion won by earthly means. These are the zealots of Jesus day, wanting Him to be political. These are the nationalists of today and the partisan Christians of the hour.

Why do we wear the armor of the king—the politics of the day? Indeed, some have shed the humility of being a shepherd for the fleeting favor of political swords. They certainly make noise but they’re not empowered by the name they have taken in vain.

Elijah dealt with the political devils and won victory, but then God led him to retreat. He needed to learn the flip side. So many people today want a Carmel showdown. They want to call down fire. But they are unwilling to wait, to be small, and quiet. We need to learn to wait, to be immersed in the silence, and hear the leading of God’s voice.

    1 Kings 18= Fire! 🔥

1 Kings 19:9 Then [Elijah] came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 And he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.” 11 So He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and powerful wind was tearing out the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake, a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire, a sound of a gentle blowing. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him.

And how can I say we have prayed and fasted outside of the will and blessing of God? Consider our synonymous behavior to Isaiah 58.

Isaiah 58:1 “Cry loudly, do not hold back; Raise your voice like a trumpet, And declare to My people their wrongdoing, And to the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God. They ask Me for just decisions, They delight in the nearness of God. 3 ‘Why have we fasted and You do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not notice?’ Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire, And oppress all your workers. 4 Behold, you fast for contention and strife, and to strike with a wicked fist. You do not fast like you have done today to make your voice heard on high! 5 Is it a fast like this that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it for bowing one’s head like a reed And for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed? Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the Lord? 6 Is this not the fast that I choose: To release the bonds of wickedness, To undo the ropes of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke? 7 Is it not to break your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will spring up quickly; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, 10 And if you offer yourself to the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness, And your gloom will become like midday. 11 And the Lord will continually guide you,
    And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;
You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

With Gideon, God gave instructions of when and how to war. But God was testing Gideon’s faith and leadership abilities because God was orchestrating a battle plan that seemed to be going against the grain of common sense (Judges 6). And with David in 1 Samuel 5, God led him into battle in a roundabout, come-from-behind way. Instead of a head-on charge, God wanted Him to wait and be Spirit-led. Conversely, there has been an erroneous battle plan that the church has fallen prey to. We have thought the most powerful church was a mega church. And we have have thought the most anointed play would be massive rallies. We have thought the most fiery and engaging message would be a shout and a song, while not realizing we were sometimes only acting as pied pipers expecting God to dance and follow our lead. So many of our prophets and intercessors have eaten at the table of wicked, political powers not realizing they were being turned into false prophets and false intercessors. And when the time of prayer came, they danced, shouted, proclaimed, and cut themselves…but nothing happened liked they hoped and decreed that it would. On the other hand, God won with Gideon because Gideon listened and he was willing to be small. God won with David because he listened and he was willing to wait.

1 Sam 15:22 Samuel said, “Does the LORD have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

If and when we get it it right…
Our weapons are not carnal, our battle is not of the flesh, and our strategies are curious, upside down, opposite of typical thinking, small ball marvels that only God can author.

Let us repent for unholy roars, unsanctioned, so-called spiritual wars, for boisterous personas, for doing things by might.

Let us pray for humility, gentleness, kindness, patience, love, and faith.

  • BoatHouse

On the 15th of this month I dreamed Josie and I were trying to get somewhere we’d never been before. It was near Knoxville. I was beginning to get discouraged thinking we weren’t going to find it when suddenly I looked up and saw it. It was an old river boat that had been restored and turned into a restaurant. It sat on the river. It was called BOATHOUSE. It was about to open and a line was already forming. The restaurant was buffet style, and thus…all-you-care-to eat.

I interpret dreams similarly to how I edit writing. I recall and write the dream in its entirety, or however much I can clearly recall. I pray and invite Holy Spirit to help me understand and get the right meaning and message from the dream. Then, I look at the dream again and I edit out the unimportant peripheral fillers. Jesus taught in parables and used many metaphors to relate truths. However, the meaning of His talks was frequently missed. Even his own disciples would occasionally approach him afterwards and ask for help in understanding His message. But that is exactly what God is looking for. He wants us to be humble enough to ask. And He wants us to seek for meaning.

Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.”

And just as Jesus didn’t just tell His disciples to go, but also instructed them where NOT to go. His own earthly ministry had parameters that He attempted to stay within. Plus, He warned His disciples about specific people/places that would afflict their soul with leaven. This is a ministry of Holy Spirit. He leads us. He helps our focus to see the right things by not seeing the wrong, unnecessary things.

Likewise, Holy Spirit especially helps me find the figurative Easter eggs by highlighting the important things, persons, emotions, colors, numbers, names, etc. Not every person, or item in the dream is pertinent to the message of the dream. If we’re not careful we’ll get confused in the overload, the over-abundance of what we’re trying to digest. That’s why short dreams can pack as much as longer, content-rich dreams.

Sometimes our spirit is cooperating with Holy Spirit and editing out non-essentials while we’re still in dream-state. Sometimes Holy Spirit will even help us with interpretation and understanding while we’re in the dream. I think that’s probably more typical when we’re walking in the Spirit and exercising our spirit man habitually, while we’re awake.

    Knox

When people ask me to pray with them about understanding a dream they’ve had, I like them to send me the dream, written out or in a recorded voice memo. This allows me to pray over it and then read/listen to it. God will oftentimes help me to become like a plastic surgeon and I’ll feel led to do nip-tuck surgery on it and remove the unnecessary fat, and distractions. This allows the message and meaning to be found and not remain hidden in the weeds, or crowd, so to speak.

Anyway, the dream I am sharing here has already had the nip-tuck surgery and only the highlights remain.

After waking, I immediately prayed over this dream so I wouldn’t lose it but would remember it well and I’d be able to write it down and subsequently understand it. Quickly, Holy Spirit highlighted the importance of Knoxville and brought John Knox to my mind. John Knox is an iconic figure in my mind for two reasons: 1. Revival 2. Intercession. Knox is a father to the Presbyterian Church. That wineskin—Presbyterianism—has been used in many of America’s greatest revivals and revivalists. Knox was used as a firebrand for revival, reformation, awakening especially in his homeland (Scotland). Knox is also famous to us because of his pleading intercession for his place. His prayer was “Give me Scotland, or I die.” What a grand prayer coupled with unyielding desperation.

Hence, the stage was now set for my dream and the understanding of it. I was going to a place of revival, intercession, and even desperation. Along this journey, I—who represent those being called to this place, and this kind of life—grow weary with waiting, wondering if I’m going to find it. But then the encouragement pops up and I see it on the horizon.

    The name was BoatHouse.

More Interpretation: BoatHouse is a house of prayer. Almost all houses of Prayer with an identity linked to the tabernacle of David have “house” as part of their name/label. This HOP also represented a prayer movement as it was on a river. Rivers are distinct bodies of water because they move. Furthermore, the place was a Restaurant…to symbolize hunger. Even the type of restaurant and its setting speak of hunger, and desire. Think about the river in Ezekiel 47 and the incrementally deeper dimensions it possessed and it’s easy to naturally relate to the all-you-care-to eat restaurant. How deep do you want to go?

    Are you hungry?

So, again, this ultimately speaks to what we’re on the brink of. In the dream, it was just opening. But it was already creating hunger and excitement—a line is forming.

This dream is about revival and it’s about prayer. It’s about going deeper. It’s about going somewhere we’ve never been before. And yes, it’s a dream of encouragement.

  • Like it or not, God is Moving

Last Tuesday night I had a dream. I’ve spent the last several days praying over it.

In the dream, I was on a university campus. I looked up and noticed an elevated train car that was detached or off-the rail. I called in and reported it. Then a bit later in the dream, the same cable car was next-in-line and nearing its time to go. I and others observed the detached problem, this off-the-rail situation, still existed and hadn’t been corrected. I tried to call in to the dispatch again, but while I was on the phone the car took off and promptly crash landed.

    Interpretation:

An epoch of cessationism is coming to a close. This epoch has existed similarly to that of the Silent Years, those 400 years between the Old and New Testaments. The OT didn’t end, it gave way to the New; It handed the baton of revelation off to a new day, a new epoch. But the silence, that is what ended. During that era, there were purists who arose and defended the truth by refuting the fake, the imposters. However, eventually their relevance ended and their epoch was no longer necessary. John—the voice—had arrived. Hence, the silence was over. Jesus—the One—had arrived. The Cessationism of the day came to a crashing halt. God didn’t need their legal services. Thus, continuing with the message of cessation would only prove them to be blind, hardened fools. We are now at a similar juncture. Those who are purist, defenders of truth, and disdainers of fake…their moment is up and it would behoove them to recognize “the real” does exist and fighting against a manifestation of truth will lead them to an off-the-rails trajectory. The thing they’ve fought against is what they will become if they cannot humble themselves and give way to the new. They have said things such as…there is no more revival, there is no more real, there is no more power stuff, there is no more prophets and prophecy, there is no more tongues. But, turns out, God isn’t dead. And “yes” is His reply to the prayer of Psalm 85:6.

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

The setting of the dream was a university campus. A university campus should be understood as the site of emerging leaders, voices. It is the place where the future is becoming today. It is the literal and symbolic place where children become adults. And, quite literally, this is where God has chosen to launch a new move, another day of outpouring. Testimonies and naysayers cannot coexist, it’s like trying to mix oil and water. This is the day of the testifiers.

    SILENT NO MORE

Silent no more. The critiquing ministry of the critical critics is no longer required. If you’ve been on that cynical commuter car, please get off and join the joy of God being alive and well. At times, I’ve been on it myself. The showmanship, the egos, the exaggerations, the silliness, the error, and the lack of accountability has frustrated me. Nevertheless, God is big enough to handle things. Whether I approve or not, He is up to something bigger than I even imagined.

The elevated train speaks of a high-minded ministry. There are many among us who exalt the mind. They possess no ethereal qualities. They are uplifted by their own hypercritical theology, philosophy, and logic. They are low on spirit. They are like the five foolish virgins in Matthew 25. This is no time to devalue the oil, but there they are being virgins, having lamps, and thinking they’re ready.

One more point: in the dream, I called in to report the issue. This was in the dream because I was being instructed to pray about this. Later in the dream I was calling in about it a second time because—I believe—there are folks on the off-the-rails cable car that God is giving opportunity to exit before they perish.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a person, But its end is the way of death.

  • Going to a Wedding

Last night I had a dream. Here it is…

My preparations for a wedding kept getting interrupted. I was ultimately trying to do a wedding in the waiting area at an airport. Once there, it was decided to turn the wedding into a church service. When we started the service, many more people came to attend the wedding.

I remember taking up an offering. Then, as soon as the offering was received it was said that it was time to board our flight. And, we only had 10 minutes before our flight.

Here is some interpretation from this dream…

    • More people came in just before departure: this speaks of a harvest revival just before the end. The word “harvest” appears 80 times throughout the books of the Bible (Genesis-Revelation).

James 5:7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.

Also, Isaiah 49 (the whole chapter) is a clear picture of ingathering along with bride/wedding talk.

Isaiah 49:18 Raise your eyes and look around; All of them gather together, they come to you. As I live,” declares the Lord, “You will certainly put them all on as jewelry and bind them on as a bride.”

    • Taking up an offering: again, the harvesting revival. The message of repentance and purity is the real preparation for the wedding. We—our lives—are the offerings. Just as John was a forerunner to Jesus, revival and the message of repentance will be preached as a forerunner to the next coming of Jesus.

    Revelation 19:7-9
Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he *said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “These are true words of God.”

Notice in the Scripture above…the bride makes herself ready. Bright. Clean. Clothed in righteous acts.

Folks, stir yourselves and be encouraged. We’re going to a wedding. It won’t be long.
